Cathaleen was a ground breaking visionary in developing and elevating the use of photography online. Under her direction the AOL photography staff was responsible for driving over 12 billion page views a year through galleries and visual presentations. In 2005 the staff of photographers and photo editors played an important role in AOL winning its first Daytime Emmy in the nontraditional broadband delivery platform category, for the Live 8 Concert. In 2008, AOL presented Cathaleen with the first AOL/Time Warner Heroes Award in recognition of the her department’s role in driving more than 70% of the page views on AOL content sites. As an award winning photojournalist she has documented events from Super Bowls to Superpower Summits, covering three presidential administrations, handling daily assignments and international news. In 1990 the White House News Photographers Association recognized her as Photographer of the Year. She is an active member in the White House News Photographers Association (WHNPA) and the National Press Photographers Association (NPPA). Currently, Cathaleen is Director of Experiential and Creative Learning at Daemen College, where she is oversees the Entrepreneurship and Service Learning programs. She is managing director of JPGmag, board member of the National Press Photographers Foundation (NPPF), National Clip Chair for NPPA and a member of the board for CenterSpace. She also writes a blog "As I See It". For over four years she has been recording an “iPhonoto” a day. She has had solo photography exhibits in NYC and Buffalo as well as juried work at the Corcoran Art Gallery, Library of Congress, the Building Museum and National Geographic. Most recently her work “AS i SEE IT” was exhibited at CEPA Gallery and “Through the Looking i” was on display at the Daemen College, Visual and Performing Arts Center.

For the last year and a half I have been making iPhone photos.  It makes me happy. I often say to young photographers and students, who ask my advice, “shoot what matters to you and it will matter to others.” I realize that lots of family, friends and a few strangers now enjoy my iphonotos.   […]
